About me
My name is Peter Kopacsi. I’m 18 years old and was born in Budapest, Hungary. For the past 11 years, I’ve lived in Switzerland, in Kriens, Canton of Lucerne. From a young age, I’ve had a passion for sports and tried out many disciplines before discovering swimming at the age of 11.
I began my education at Kantonsschule Reussbühl before transferring to Kantonsschule Alpenquai to take advantage of its specialized sports program. This supportive structure has played a key role in my athletic development for over three years. Outside of school, I’m also passionate about jazz piano. I regularly participate in jam sessions and was a member of a big band for two years.
I’m currently in the middle of my final two years of secondary education (Matura). After graduating, I plan to pursue a degree in Banking and Finance, a field that deeply interests me.
My ultimate goal is to study at a prestigious American university with a swimming scholarship. That’s the dream I’m working hard to achieve.
My Swimming Journey
I started swimming at the age of 11, initially as a hobby alongside other sports to stay fit. However, my passion for swimming grew quickly, and my motivation kept increasing. Within about a year of starting, I competed in my first race. I was particularly drawn to sprint events, where I quickly discovered my natural strength compared to other disciplines.
Each year, my coaches and I set ambitious goals and work diligently and strategically to achieve them. I also take an independent approach to training, often researching and experimenting with my coaches to find the most effective methods. This constant pursuit of optimization is what drives me forward.
This past season has been my most successful yet. I was selected for the Youth National Team, qualified for the European Junior Championships, and earned a bronze medal in the open category and a victory in the youth category at the Swiss National Championships. Additionally, I secured a spot in the Elite National Team.
